What is the world record for most time spent on a computer? Why am I wasting time like this? I could be doing somethng useful like folding laundry, or shopping for cat food. I could be saving the world, one fundraiser at a time. That's what happens when your a puritan. You ruin your own good time. as my friend Amy says, it's in the DNA.

But is it art?

This week I'm trying to finish a novel (writing it) and I'd like to know how many other people (millions, billions?) are also writing novels, and why people want to spend perfectly good time doing this?

I'm putting Vermont college's MFA in Writing out in the blogosphere. It's a great program. Look at the grads. Wally Lamb? I saw his novel in an airport in North Carolina and knew I had to go to his MFA program.
